Discussion:
Dupes in ATMA

Hi,

while playing around with ATMA, runewords and item upgrades, I think I
accidentally created some dupes in my ATMA stash. This is SP, so no harm
done to b.net.

Any tips on handling duped items in ATMA? I believe ATMA has some kind of
dupe detection - but I have no real ideas how it works.

Anyhow, as I want no effing dupes, I guess I should just delete all dupes
in ATMA?

Thanks for any tips,

Oliver

I haven't tried ATMA's dupe detection either, but in case you haven't
noticed, if you put two duped items in an ATMA "stash" file they will lie
next to each other and you will notice they are dupes by their identical
"fingerprints". One way to delete an item manually from a stash is to drag
it into a characters "buffer" slot, from where it will be lost when the
character file is closed.

(You can make dupes in ATMA by Alt-Tabbing out of a Diablo game, opening the
active character's file in ATMA and dragging their items into a stash or an
inactive character's file; the changes made to the active character's file
will not be reflected in the game, and all the items will still be there
when you close the character file and Alt-Tab back into the game. I use this
method for muling more items out of a game than my character can carry;
items I send to stash in this way I sell to a vendor upon returning to the
game to avoid dupes. Not sure whether this method is explicitly supported by
ATMA, but it has caused me no crashes or corrupted files so far.

I recently added 3 characters inventory by accident twice to ATMA, and knew
I better get them out for the dupes. You bring up your stash, go to the
dupe view and then LOAD your stash. I think it is called ADD FILE or
something. Then you can run the DUPE DETECTOR portion. The dupes will be
displayed in the list. I then went to each section and looked for the dupe
manually since like you, didn't know the procedure on the duplictor
function.

I had about 6 items, so the manual check of the 'fingerprint' was easy
enough.
