Best armor for ENIGMA?

Still trying to find/get a Ber, but trying to find a good 3 socket grey armor. What is the best? I found a 3 soc Sacred, but the str
req was 225. I want to use on all my characters not just barb or pally.

The best is wire fleece.

the most of the ones i've seen were dusk shrouds.

I would say that any of the elite armors with relatively low strength
requirement and somewhat high defense. ie:

Dusk Shroud (def 361-467, str req 77)
Wrymhide (def 364-470, str req 84)
Scarab Husk (def 369-474, str req 95)
Wire Fleece (def 375-481, str req 111)

Ideally...with any of the above mentioned armors....it would be great to
have one that is superior with an enhanced defense mod. (like 15% ed being
the best). Seeing that Enigma is an awfully rare rune word to make...I'd
wait for a superior armor to put it in myself. But that's just me.

Personally I'd go for a Russet Armor. It doesn't have as much defense as
the more popular choices, but Enigma doesn't have ED%, but +750-775
defense. So the defense on the resulting armor wouldn't be all that
large while the strength req of the popular choices is much higher.

At 55 strength req, any character can use it. And 975-1036 defense is a
pretty good deal IMO. On top of that, Russet Armor has more durability
then the other options mentioned in this thread so far and it's light
weight too (unlike Wire Fleece) which is nice for when you can't/don't
want to teleport.

I blame Arreat Summit's design for my mistake. :-P
So, just for the record, MAGE PLATE!!! Russet Armor is probably one of
the worst armors to make into an Enigma.

Superior is for white / gray items (just like Cracked). Blue items are Magic
and don't have these modifiers.

Also keep in mind that making something from a Superior items increased the
repair cost by a lot.
