Hi,

Just wondering what the best recommended armor for Duress would be.
Something that i wouldn't have to overdo putting stat points into to reach.

Mage Plate or Templar Coat?

Those are both exceptional items, not elite and not really candidates for
Duress IMO. About the only difference is that the Templar Coat is clased as
'heavy' and will slow your character down and it requires 118 strength
instead of 55 for the mage plate. The templar has maybe 5-10% higher armour
rating, (263 average compared with 243 for Mage) both are level 25 req.
(Duress itself is level 47).

I have two Duress armours and both are in Archon Plate, the elite version of
Mage Plate. Level req 63, Strength 103. Light yet relatively high base
armour (410-524, seems to average around 500).

Having thought long and hard about this (Runes are hard to come by) I
decided the best trade-off between armour rating, requirements and weight
was Archon. I have talked to others who have concluded the same.

Yes.

You'll have to find it though, as Larzuk will put 4 sockets in it no
matter how much you beg and plead for just 3, and the "put sockets in an
object" recipe will put in 1, 2, 3, 4, 4, or 4 sockets, with equal
chance of each outcome. This is because nobody/nothing can drop an
Archon Plate with a low enough iLvl to only qualify for 3 sockets.

Yeah, what Brian said. I usually farm the end of act 5, crystalline passage
onwards, and the moo-moo farm with a high level, quick killer who has little
or no MF for items like this.

The cube socket recipe will give you 1,2, or 3 sockets (1/6 each) and 4
sockets half (3/6) the time.

If you can find a low quality Archon, repair it in the cube. This sets the
Ilvl to 1, and Larzuk will give you 3 sockets in it.

I'd forgotten that! Thanks for the reminder!

To be honest Archon plate is just about the best armor there is for
runewords. I have been chasing around hell looking for some all of ladder 2.
Best I've come up with are some boneweaves.
