Downloaded ATMA and cannot figure out how to get the files to import to it.
Sometime ago years really, I recall saving files before atempting a
dangerous operation. But I cannot find the diablo 2 files the folder is
empty or at least blank.

Not quite sure what you mean by "import".

ATMA works by allowing you to save ("export") items from your SP
characters (.d2s files in your \Diablo II\save folder) to where you
want to save them. (You can use "mule" characters, but it's simpler
just to save the items as .d2i files.)

If you have a lot of items on a lot of characters, there is an "Auto
Gather" option under the Utility menu, which will scan an entire
folder tree and copy every item from every .d2s file into an ATMA
"stash" (.d2x).

If this doesn't make any sense to you, ask more questions. ATMA is
well worth spending some time getting to grips with.

I never used that "Auto Gather" option, but I do use the ATMA 'stash' - for
me it is the main reason for using the program. I just open a character in
ATMA, then open the stash I want to put stuff in - I made 3 seperate
stashes for - green / set items, gold / uniques, and all 'other' stuff. Or
just stick everything into one big stash to make it easier to find stuff,
but on older computers it can take a few seconds to open the stash file if
it has _lots_ of items in it already. Then just drag and drop the item
from the character's window onto the stash window to 'export' it there.

Hmmm. My big gripe with the stash is that you cannot change the order
in which it displays items - it will only order them alphabetically.
This is fine for most set items (excluding Disciple, Orphan's and
Heaven's sets), ok for uniques if you have an encyclopaedic knowledge
of them, but it's utterly useless for rares. Once you have more than a
couple of dozen items of a particular type, it becomes really painful.

So I don't use the stash at all (except when I did a big auto-gather
on all my 1.09 mules, and then I exported all the items out of it). I
use d2i files which I can then name in a way that they will appear in
a sensible order: by required level first (since this is immutable),
then by str req, dex req, item type, sockets, other useful info. The
name of an item is pretty irrelevant really.

YMMV of course. ATMA is great whether you like the stash facility or
not. I don't use the bank either, but I do love the drop calculator.

Umm.... there is another tab for sorting the items by type of item, makes
finding things MUCH easier. Look just above the list itself.

My bad - I meant it orders them alphabetically within item types. Yes,
it is good to scroll through the Tree rather than the whole List, but
even in the Tree, you can still be faced with scrolling through the
following items of the same type:

Bitter Barb
Carrion Lance
Gore Shred
Demon Barb

... etc. etc. etc. Really doesn't help you at all, and once you've
collected enough to forget which is which (about half a dozen in my
case!) it gets really annoying. I want to see at a glance what level/
str/dex reqs they have, and preferably other mods too ...

Oh well, to each his own.

Yes, they should be ordered by level req within item type, then item
quality (gold, green, orange, yellow, blue, grey, white).
