Post by ArtDentPost by magnateIf you have a lot of items on a lot of characters, there is an "Auto
Gather" option under the Utility menu, which will scan an entire
folder tree and copy every item from every .d2s file into an ATMA
"stash" (.d2x).
I never used that "Auto Gather" option, but I do use the ATMA 'stash' - for
me it is the main reason for using the program. I just open a character in
ATMA, then open the stash I want to put stuff in - I made 3 seperate
stashes for - green / set items, gold / uniques, and all 'other' stuff. Or
just stick everything into one big stash to make it easier to find stuff,
but on older computers it can take a few seconds to open the stash file if
it has _lots_ of items in it already. Then just drag and drop the item
from the character's window onto the stash window to 'export' it there.
Hmmm. My big gripe with the stash is that you cannot change the order
in which it displays items - it will only order them alphabetically.
This is fine for most set items (excluding Disciple, Orphan's and
Heaven's sets), ok for uniques if you have an encyclopaedic knowledge
of them, but it's utterly useless for rares. Once you have more than a
couple of dozen items of a particular type, it becomes really painful.
So I don't use the stash at all (except when I did a big auto-gather
on all my 1.09 mules, and then I exported all the items out of it). I
use d2i files which I can then name in a way that they will appear in
a sensible order: by required level first (since this is immutable),
then by str req, dex req, item type, sockets, other useful info. The
name of an item is pretty irrelevant really.
YMMV of course. ATMA is great whether you like the stash facility or
not. I don't use the bank either, but I do love the drop calculator.
