When I participate in Baal runs I often see some of the characteres leave the party just
before killing Baal.
What's the point - beside exclusively getting the experience from killing Baal?
My Character could be a level 94 Sorceress in Ladder.

Yes, this is true in the cases where people do Baal runs for
the sole purpose of getting to level 99. Depending on the
runner and/or size of the party, 1, 2 or 4 people kill Baal.
the rest have to leave the party. It is always the top people
that kill Baal and that is to maximize the experience that
they get. It may not be much but when you're a level 96
or better, every little bit helps. But our Baal-A-Thons
aren't run that way, everybody gets to help kill Baal.

Also in a Normal or NM game some people might leave so they don't get
the quest for killing Baal - so they can still see normal or NM pubbies
on the game list.

Hi,
This is common practice in high clvl baal games. It's reffered to as topping
and is used to help the higher clvls gain a little more experience.
Sometimes (usually in private games) you'll find someone "sets-up" Diablo
(breaks all 5 seals/kills the three unique bosses) and opens a tp just prior
to D spawning for the higher levels to kill. Often someone will search for
experience shrines for them and someone will tele to nilly if it's a
dedicated effort to reach 99.

Regards,

Jay
