Discussion:
MF ring of value or mostly just worth a light chuckle?

So I found a 33% MF ring, with mf mods in both the prefix and suffix...At
first I thought that it was just a quirky little trinket, _maybe_ to
replace my 30mf nagel, but then I remember that people out there pay a
handful of HRs for 50travs while 48-49travs are typically worth a small
fraction of that. (must be a bragging rights thing?)

might this be in a similar category?

I know it isn't perfect in the sense of both pre/suffix being max, but
still...

Yes, it does have trading value, especially to botters. Now, had it

Ok thanks, good to know...wasn't sure if I should include this in an
upcoming sale/experiment.

I've been making a small pile of seemingly good MF rings/ammys and will
try posting them to a trading forum and see what happens.

+3 barb masteries, +33mf
+3 lightning, +24mf
+1 cold, +35mf
+3 necro summon, +30mf
and the 33mf ring

Speaking of MF, Mickey:

Im almost afraid to ask, but I'm curious about your
trapper/mfer/keyrunner. What's her name, and what crazy high MF does
she run around with when pestering Nilly?

Her name is IDismemberMama, and her MF, when on her MF switch, it over
600.

Actually, 40% MF is max on a magical ring.

Strangely enough, the Arreat Summit doesn't list the 50% MF off an
Angelic Ring with 3 parts of the set equipped.

See:

I've never claimed anything like that. I know you added a lot of smilies,
but it has never been my intention to bombard it as the end-all-be-it-all
final source of all D2 info.

However, you too must admit it _is_ pretty complete and answers most of
the questions out there (not all, I know) and if things in the real-world
don't match with what's listed there, it'd be nice to try and fix it.

I mailed Blizzard about the 50MF off Angelic Rings, but it seems the
author only added personal preference stuff, and Angelic wasn't included.
Anyway, Angelic is a bit of an odd choice, since you need to sacrifice two
other item spots to get to three Angelic parts, so you get 100MF off the 2
rings, but you lose the potential MF off [Amu|Armor|Weapon] (Pick 2) to
get that.

Patrick.

seen them updated.

All true. However, for the trip to NM, it is a killer setup :)

It sure has a lot of bang for it's buck. I'm using Angelic Amu + Angelic
Armor + 1 ring in Classic, and it ain't bad. Still looking for a second
Angelic ring.

And I'm also 'dreading' the moment I find Angelic Sickle, because then I'd
have to decided whether to move out the staff and go for the complete set
(it has some nice bonuses then), or not... ;)

Patrick.

Well, one for sure is the 12%max cap on RA for rare rings
And one is a bug I know of that makes the 67 level req for +2 skills ammys
false.

Well, one for sure is the 12%max cap on RA for rare rings
11% RA actually (Rainbow prefix). You're still the only person I know who
has claimed he found 'new' rare rings with 12+%RA in this Ladder. Even a
forum on d2jsp dedicated to 'reporting' nice finds, has never had anyone
report such an item.

All other rings I've found referenced to are NL 1.08 rings which were
moved to this Ladder during an event I refer to as 'The Glitch': for a
short while NL and Ladder chars could enter the same game. A lot of
'semi-godly' NL items were apparently moved to Ladder during that event;
enough to warrant the creation of a 'banned item list' on d2jsp for US
West Ladder.

Never seen one of those offered anywhere either, though you have referred
to this before. What set of circumstances has be satisfied for this to
happen?

But, on the other hand, let's not go here, again...

That brings back some old memories. Mickey says in the Google link above:

"All it takes is for a champion to drop a rare amulet. The technical
reasons I was referring to were issues of where in the code it is broken,
how it is broken and what needs to be done to fix it. "

However, there is no Champion in the game which can drop a +2 skills tab
amulet, whether magical or rare, since that needs an ilvl90+ amulet...

Still quite unclear.

Patrick.

All right then. That was the only time I remembered hearing
about low-level-req +2 skills amulets recently, so I assumed
(perhaps unwisely) that you were talking about the same bug.
I wouldn't have expected there to be another bug with such
similar effects, but I suppose I shouldn't be surprised,
given some of Blizzard's past work on the game.

Keep in mind I'm talking Classic here, so for end-game gear, you have to
choose between one of the Normal uniques, or a nice rare shield.

It seems nice rares are the way to go, not sure if that's for a sorceress
though. But 'wanted' shields (looking at prices offered/given for 'em on
d2jsp) include the 30/20 blocking mod, res-all, and some life/mana
bonuses. Also, I recentl saw a close to perfect Bonesnap (298 or 299ed)
offered for 40 d2jsp forum (about 2.5HRs worth on SC Europe ladder, more
on US West). This is a unique that I sell to Charsi immediately when I
find it on LOD.

It looks like playing Classic, and having some luck with the stuff you
find, is one way of accumulating d2jsp wealth. ;)

Patrick.
