Blade Fury has gone from one of those never used skills to something I
can see people building characters around.
Since the Assassin is my favourite character I decided to build one
similar to my USEast hybrid assassin "EveEllis". After getting to about
level 40 I decided to put some points in the "Blade" skills.
Blade Sentinel is certainly improved from its 1.09 status with the added
3/8ths weapon damage but I don’t think its ever going to be more then a
novelty skill for specialised use.
Blade Fury however is now so effective that I can see it being used as a
main attack. Who needs a bow-assin when blade fury spams out those
little blades of death at around 5 per second doing 3/4ths your weapons
damage? It doesn’t seem to be effected by weapon speed or cast rate, so
things like cruel ogre mauls and giant threshers might start becoming
the "ranged assassins" weapon of choice. Now when a nasty LEB comes
along I can let my shadow do the tanking while I dispatch the creature
from a safe distance.
Its also one of those skills that only requires 1 point to be effective.
In fact putting more then one point in it would probably be a bad idea
since you only get a tiny increase in physical damage but a significant
mana cost increase (well significant to most low-mana assassins at least).
One thing I would have liked to see was a synergy from Blade Sentinel
and Fury that increased blade Shields duration, but even so I am
thoroughly impressed at the new blade skills.
