FOH Paladin in HELL: questions

Just started Hell softcore with my mid-50s FOH Paladin. Great build so far,
maxed FOH and lots in Conviction, few points in Meditation and Holy Shield.

The question now is what to do with the Lightning Immunes in Hell, since FOH
with Conviction does no damage to them. Do I spend the rest of my upcoming
skill points into Holy Bolt (for +15% damage/level synergy in 1.10 patch) in
order to max my main attack damage and just ignore the Lightning Immunes or
go with a secondary skill?

Since this is a mana-based Monk character, was thinking possible Blessed
Hammer used with Conviction (not as ideal as Concentration but I don't have
that many skill points to use). Or I could try and build up a melee skill I
suppose...

I'd really like to go with Blessed Hammer and Conviction (-defense) but I'm
not convinced I will be able to do enough damage with it in Hell Acts
4-5...and also not sure that FOH will even be viable enough in A4-5 without
the Holy Bolt synergy once 1.10 comes out

well... if you cannot use your main skill to kill lightning immunes, you
really should aim for a secondary one.

The question is, do you really need to kill them?

If you cannot kill them, convert them.

Conversion/Conviction is one of the few technics that any paladin should
learn to use in Hell.

The killing is indeed slower than with your main skill, but eh, it's a
secondary one, and pretty cheap IMHO. (remember, you already spent a point
in conversion before getting your fist of heavens skill, and I believe
you've got some +skills items)

The convicted monsters should drop relatively quickly (they have less
defence and resists).
The converted monsters act as nice tanks, until they return with very few HP
left (bug or not, I don't care for that matter).

They give you time to choose between fighting on or running away.

BTW, Conviction doesn't reduce magic resist, and BH requires no attack
check, as far as I know...?

And BH without at least some hefty concentration doesn't quite cut it in
hell.

My advice would be to get some holy shield to help tanking while you try to
convert enemies with conviction on.
