Got hold of an eth Lacerator but it got me thinking
how any eth throwing weapons even without replenish
stack can be used as permenant melee weapons since they
dont lose durability.

Don't they lose quantity instead of durability when you use them as
melee weapons?

Throwing weapons have a "hidden" durability that does go down w/ melee use
(iirc it's calculated at either 1/3 or 3x and reduces quantity... kinda
screwy). So an ethereal throwing weapon w/o replenish will eventually
break... try it, you'll see.

Same thing goes for assy claws used for weapon block. You can Blade Fury
away with an eth weapon with no worries, provided you use a shield for
blocking (or go 2H, take the 3/8 penalty, and do w/o shield).

Ive used an eth claw and not had any durability loss with hours of
playing(using BF).I can see that you might lose durability from
blocking with Weapon Block because Blade shield takes down durability
(rapidly!!).Ill take your word for it on the eth throwers.

The javelins also work for act2 mercs, and they're faster than a lot of
polearms... I've got an ethereal spiculum (lvl 26, 88 str, 63 dex, 83%ed
34-104, 30%ias, 6% life steal) on a lvl 47 merc, and it's still working
fine in nightmare. I haven't checked if it looses stack on the merc, but
it shouldn't...
